COMMUNICATING THE WISDOM THAT'S CHANGING THE WORLD

| The Nine Day Clutter Clearing Feng Shui Practice by Justine Willis Toms I just got off the phone with a publicist asking if I've received a certain book from her. I look into the database where I log in all in-coming books and note that, yes, indeed the book came in. There is a notation that it is in my office. My office isn't that big but it is filled with an accumulation of CDs, books, papers, notebooks, and other "stuff" that I think I need to help me do my job. Not seeing the book as I scanned the cluttered surfaces, I laughed with the publicist and said, "Uh-oh, I guess it is time for me to clean up this mess." When my "mess" starts to get the best of me I'm reminded of a powerful Feng Shui cure. You commit to moving, giving away, or throwing away twenty-seven items every day for nine days in a row. Maintaining this practice over this period of days sets a rhythm that can take hold and become a lifelong pattern of letting go. I'm in the middle of this practice as I write this piece. It's a powerful process that assists in changing the energy in your life from stagnation to flow and can be used for the practical benefit of cleaning up clutter as well as inviting more beneficial energy to cascade into your life. The trick is to do it for nine consecutive days. I have launched this effort in times past easily accomplishing five days, then the weekend arrives and my flow is disrupted as I get into a frenzy of laundry, gardening, and errands. Suddenly on Sunday afternoon as I’m looking through a drawer crammed full of hammers, nails, miscellaneous screws, wires, and metal things I can't even identify, I remember my nine day, Feng Shui commitment. Sigh, I must begin again. Oh well, that just gives me that many more days to release more "stuff" in my life. And that in itself is deeply satisfying. |
