COMMUNICATING THE WISDOM THAT'S CHANGING THE WORLD

Editor's Desk:HOW TO SEARCH THE NEW DIMENSIONS ARCHIVE Programs Available for MP3 Downloading We have more than 750 hours in our archive and are adding new ones every month. We've mapped out some suggestions as to how you might search this extensive library of wisdom. DOWNLOADING MP3 You can download them for only $1.99 per program (CA sales tax where applicable). Then you can either burn your own CD; put it in your iPod or some other Digital device; or just listen on your computer. SEARCH SUGGESTIONS You can search our archive by subject matter, guest name (you can type in the last name only if you'd like), or program number. They will come up in batches of 25. Use the search box that appears on most pages on the website under the logo. HOW TO REVIEW ENTIRE ARCHIVE BY PROGRAM NUMBER One way to get the entire archive to come up is to type in MP3 in the search box. The program titles will come up by program number--the latest ones first (for the most part). You then click on any title you like, and it will take you to the full description and the "Buy Now" button. HOW TO LOOK UP PAST TWO YEARS OF PROGRAM SCHEDULE Another way to look up programs is to open up any of our past newsletters. Go to the home page. On the left side there is a list of options, one of which is Newsletter/Articles. Click on it and you will go to a list of 2006, 2007, and 2008 e-newsletters. They each contain our program schedule for that month with the program title, guest name, program number, topics discussed and, in many cases, include the full descriptions. If there is no "live" link on the program title, then jot down any program numbers from those that interest you, go back to the listing of Newsletters, and type the program number into the search box (one at a time). Note: do not use the # sign in the program number. If you do you'll get a "sorry your search results in zero results." When your search is successful, click on the program title that comes up to get to the full program description and the "Buy Now" button. LOOK UP PROGRAMS BY SUBJECT Another way to search our archive is to search by subject. We have many webwords that are embedded in each program search. Here are a few suggestions of major categories as follows: animals, art, Buddhism, business, community, creativity, death, dying, dream, ecology, nature, environment, education, global culture, health, healing, history, indigenous, intuition, psychic, media, meditation, men's studies, money, economics, music, mythology, parapsychology, parenting, peace, nonviolence, personal transformation, philosophy, psychology, relationship, religion, science, self help, social change, politics, spirit guides, spirituality, technology, travel, women's studies, work, livelihood, writing. There are thousands of other words you can use to look up specific programs, for example: Bible, happiness, intention, physics, dialogue, circle, or any word you can think of. If it is included in our list, the program will show up in the search. NOTES ABOUT LISTENING ON-LINE: New Dimensions "flagship" program series: Our flagship program "New Dimensions" is available for FREE streaming on our website for listening for two weeks. We list the current program on the home page. For the previous week's program you'll have to search by program number or guest name. You can find the schedule by going to the Newsletters and click on current month. Note our broadcast week begins on Wednesday. After that you will have to pay $1.99 to download it. NEW DIMENSIONS CAFÉ PROGRAM SERIES: In addition to our "flagship" program, we have a second program series that can be heard on-line, NEW DIMENSIONS CAFÉ. You can listen on-demand or download FREE any of our NEW DIMENSIONS CAFÉ podcasts. Or you can subscribe to them and they will come via iTunes. They are free. In the midst of the current turmoil of environmental degradation and intra-species violence, are we about to self-destruct? Or are we on the brink of a radical transformation as a species? Physician Leonard Shlain finds hope in his studies of the genius of Leonardo Da Vinci, and its expression in both art and science. According to Dr. Shlain, that reflects an extraordinary level of interaction between the left and right brain. It may also be indicative of a type of brain activity that makes us less prone to violence. For while it served us well to be hardwired for cold-blooded killing when we hunted mastodons on the savannahs, Dr. Shlain wonders, "Is the present arrangement of our brains an adaptation that is no longer advantageous to us? Is the extreme cruelty, the aggression that our split brains gave us, does that now make us a creature that is endangering themselves and all the others?" He suggests that Leonardo's brain may have been a harbinger of where our species is headed on the evolutionary path. It's a hopeful notion given our propensity to fight among ourselves, and dominate other species and our planet to the point of devastation. Dr. Shlain explores all possibilities, and points to a wisdom in the patterns of uniqueness among individuals-just like Leonardo's-which suggest we may be about to shift into something much, much better. Leonard Shlain is chairman of laparoscopic surgery at the California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, and Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco. He has been a keynote speaker at the Smithsonian Institute, Harvard University, the Florence Academy of Art, Los Alamos National Laboratory, among others. His books include The Alphabet vs. the Goddess: The Conflict Between Word and Image (Viking 1998) and Sex, Time, and Power: How Women's Sexuality Shaped Human Evolution (Viking 2003). He is currently working on Leonardo's Brain: The Left-Right Roots of Creativity. To learn more about the work of Leonard Shlain go to www.sextimeandpower.com Topics Explored in this Dialogue:

What is your deepest intent? What are you really trying to accomplish as you go through your day, and as you interact with family members or coworkers? Are you in touch with the real reasons you make the choices you make, or are you sometimes embroiled in resentment, or other games of the ego? Do you use the warmth in your heart to heat your home or to burn it down? Deborah Johnson reminds us that when we forget our true sense of purpose, and let our busy minds separate us from our connection to the divine, our actions may be infused with negativity rather than wonder and grace. She explains, "Intent is really an internal process, a place of integration where our thoughts, words, actions, deeds, and emotions actually all line up. As human beings we have an incredible capacity to feel one way, say something else, do something else, and still be thinking something else. But intent is bringing it all together. That is where the power comes." Reverend Johnson offers techniques to create an ongoing intention to move through our days in communion with the divine, so that we can bring peace to our personal relationships, and also to the greater global community. (Hosted by Justine Willis Toms) Reverend Deborah L. Johnson is the founder and president of Inner Light Ministries, a nondenominational spiritual community in northern California, and of the Motivational Institute, an organizational development consulting firm. She is a lifelong activist for social change, an inductee into the Board of Preachers of the Martin Luther King, Jr., Chapel at Morehouse College, and a consultant to Fortune 500 companies. Reverend Johnson is the author of The Sacred Yes: Letters from the Infinite (Sounds True 2006) and Your Deepest Intent: Letters from the Infinite (Sounds True 2007). The Age of Enlightenment opened up human understanding to the external world in enormous, and culturally dynamic ways, such as what we began to discover in the field of medicine, or how we began to have a new understanding of nature. McIntosh describes the integral perspective as having just as far reaching an effect on human culture. Through reframing and opening us up to the internal world a new era of exploration and discovery is upon us. As McIntosh says, "Through the integral perspective we are able to see consciousness, culture, values, and much of the internal universe with a new clarity that allows us to grab hold of the stuff of the internal world in a way very similar to the way the [age of] Enlightenment opened up the external world. The practical application of this is that we recognize every problem in the world, at least to some degree, is a problem of consciousness." McIntosh describes what is consciousness, how is it evolving, and how can we apply its strengths to the moral and practical problems we face on the planet today. Steve McIntosh is an independent scholar and long-time participant in progressive culture. He is an original member of the Integral Institute think tank, and has taught integral philosophy to a wide variety of audiences, including a series of lectures at Naropa University. Steve is president of Now & Zen, Inc., an international manufacturing company marketing "natural lifestyle products" which he has invented. Steve has traveled throughout the world and has had a variety of successful careers, practicing law with one of the nation's biggest firms, and working as an executive with Celestial Seasonings Tea Company. He is the author of Integral Consciousness and the Future of Evolution: How the Integral Worldview Is Transforming Politics, Culture and Spirituality (Paragon House 2007). What would your life be like if you woke up in the morning knowing you will spend the day doing what you love? What would it be like if your relationships were always energetic and effortless? What would happen if you fully lived each day with vitality, energy, and passion? Is it ever too late to start to find and follow your passion? Founding Director of Clarity International, Cathy Hawk, says, "The notion that it is too late for me to start doing what I love is a very lights off story. If someone is saying that to me, I would be able to literally see their life-force, their radiance, disappear. It is never, ever too late to start to make changes and go in a direction of things that light us up." This inspiring idea and more, serve as the focus for this edition of New Dimensions with our guests, Cathy Hawk and her partner and husband, Gary Hawk. Cathy Hawk is Founding Director of Clarity International, a coaching and training firm that teaches skills for how to see, sense, and use energy as a primary life and work strategy. Since 1994, Cathy, along with Clarity trained coaches, has inspired thousands of people from all walks of life to find and answer their callings drawing upon entrepreneurial expertise gathered from more than a quarter century of visioning and team building in her professional practice. Cathy's own search for a new vision led to the development of Clarity International and the "Lights on Learning" method. She has guided many visionary leaders from companies both large and small. Gary Hawk is Co-Director of Clarity International and serves as an executive coach and mentor for CEOs, business owners and senior executives. He guides and challenges his clients in clarifying business and personal goals, and in thinking through the ongoing means to attain them. With more than four decades of experience in both large and small businesses, Gary brings a rich business background to his coaching relationships. They are the co-authors of Creating the Rest of Your Life: An Atlas for Manifesting Success and Excellence in Life and Work (Brilliance Press 2007) and the Life Journey Map (Clarity International 2007).
