Program Description:
We all know from personal experience that men and women see the world differently and interact differently. Now we know why. Louann Brizendine, M.D. is a neuropsychiatrist who shares some eye opening revelations based on extensive medical and scientific research about our brains and how they function. Brizendine discusses the scientific implications of the scientific evidence that women and men have distinct brain circuitry. These differences are so marked that Brizendine speaks of a female brain and a male brain. How our brains differ and the implications for each of us and for society are the subject of this mind-expanding look at our biology and our behavior. Brizendine informs us," Females tend to have more brain circuitry for picking up emotional nuance and making meaning of that. (Females ) have a much better ability to do what is called memory for emotional detail." (Hosted by Justine Willis Toms)

Louann Brizendine, M.D, a neuropsychiatrist at the University of California, San Francisco, is the founder of the Women's Mood and Hormone Clinic. She was previously on the faculty of the Harvard Medical School and is a graduate of Yale University School of Medicine and the University of California, Berkeley, in neurobiology. She has written in professional texts and journals and is the author of The Female Brain (Morgan Road Books, 2006). To learn more about the work of Louann Brizendine go to www.thefemalebrain.com
