New Year’s Resolution...

In case you missed last month’s article, I am going to remind you of the importance of calling your station to tell them you listen to New Dimensions on their station and how much you appreciate them for carrying it. It’s so much easier to stay on a station than it is to get back on if we are taken off the schedule. The way to help ensure that New Dimensions stays on the schedule is to make sure the station knows that people are listening. If we are taken off the only way we get back on is for their to be a strong reaction from disappointed listeners.

Public and community radio stations are under a lot of pressure these days and the numbers of listeners, the number of comments they receive about a program, and the number of pledges made during a program are much more closely monitored than was once the case. A big reason for this is the federal support of public and community radio has decreased dramatically during the last five years and is increasingly being threatened even more. Some stations may be concerned about the growing influence of those who think public radio is too liberal. For all of these reasons stations need to know that New Dimensions is what you want to hear. The way to let stations really know is to call. Remember you are the sponsors that pay the bills. You are very influential. So call your station.
